Aim of Study: Introduction of “outside-inside-out” arthroscopic technique for treatment of tibial intercondylar spike avulsion.
Material and Methods: The technique takes advantage of arthroscopy in treatment of type II and III tibial intercondylar spike avulsions
with use of Kirschner wires. 35 patients were operated and evaluated.
Results: No neurologic or vascular complications were noticed. Two patients underwent manipulation under GA for persistent joint
stiffness postoperatively. Very good results were observed in 74 %, in 5 % we found temporary instability, in 11.5 % we observed residual
instability, 6 % (2 cases) had to be primarily converted to open revision.
Conclusions: This technique allows exact reduction and good stability with low complication rate and has been a relevant alternative to
conventionally used open techniques.
