Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second most prevalent malignancy with good prognosis in case of early diagnosis and treatment. Approximately

70 % of CRCs develope through adenoma–carcinoma sequence, whereas 30 % probably develope without previous adenomatous

precursors, de novo. Colonoscopy with techniques of endoscopic polypectomy and mucosal resection plays a major role in the secondary

prevention of CRC by the interruption of adenoma–carcinoma sequence. Moreover, it is essential in the diagnosis and treatment of early

CRC. In this paper the authors inform about endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of superficial colorectal neoplasia in order to provide

complex information and, thereby, enable increase in the quality of diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy.

Keywords: adenoma, colorectal cancer, endoscopic mucosal resection, superficial neoplasia.
