Objective: The objective of this article is to review the recent adoption, experience, and applications of robot-assisted laparoscopy in gynecologic surgery. Methods: Review of literature with robotic surgery. Results: Robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgeries in gynecology include benign hysterectomy, myomectomy, tubal reanastomoses, radical hysterectomy, lymph node dissections, and sacrocolpopexies. Robot-assisted gynecologic surgery is often associated with longer operating room time but generally similar clinical outcomes, decreased blood loss, and shorter hospital stay when compared to open or laparoscopic surgery. Detection of sentinel nodes, originally developed for malignant melanoma, has gradually spread throughout the oncological surgery. It became a standard method for melanoma, breast cancer, carcinoma of the cervix and vulva. The first report of the sentinel lymph node biopsy in endometrial carcinoma is 1996 – Burke, 3 years earlier than cervical carcinoma (1). The first laparoscopic lymphadenectomy was performed in 1989 for cancer of the cervix – Dargent (2).

In the past decade, the development of mini-invasive surgery positively affected operative lethality and morbidity in resections of the esophagus. Early post-operative complications were always associated with the unfavourable localisation of the esophagus in the mediastinum, which is only accessible via two approaches. The first, transhiatal approach, represents dissection without visual control when using a conventional operative method, and the second, thoracotomy, is accompanied by a higher frequency of respiratory complications. The video-assisted transhiatal approach to the lower half of the esophagus, which we have been using at the...

Clinically significant stress incontinence affects 20 % of women aged around 45 years. In its treatment we can use pelvic floor exercise, that is the first choice in conservative treatment of stress incontinence. The other posibilities include electrostimulation, pesarotherapy or paraurethral injection of the bulking agents. This article describes miniinvasive operations that have slowly replaced the classic operations in the treatment of the stress urinary incontinence. Stress incontinence is clinically significant complication of the radical prostatectomy and less often of the endoscopic or open procedure of prostate for benign hyperplasie....
