Endoscopic therapy of Zenker´s diverticulum using CO2 laser

There is a notecable change particularly in last two decades in treatment of Zenker´s diverticulum. It has moved from classic external

approach to endoscopic method which is characterized by section of cricopharyngeal muscle using endoscopic-microscopic control and

most often CO2 laser. In comparison with operation from external approach, endoscopic technique is connected with larger comfort for

patiens, lower risk of complications and comparable success rate. Endoscopic therapy of Zenker´s diverticulum should be a common part

of surgical procedures in modern department of otorhinolaryngology.
