Detection of sentinel nodes, originally developed for malignant melanoma, has gradually spread throughout the oncological surgery. It
became a standard method for melanoma, breast cancer, carcinoma of the cervix and vulva. The first report of the sentinel lymph node
biopsy in endometrial carcinoma is 1996 – Burke, 3 years earlier than cervical carcinoma (1). The first laparoscopic lymphadenectomy
was performed in 1989 for cancer of the cervix – Dargent (2).
