Obesity epidemic and continuosly increasing prevalence of obesity represents serious social, economic and health care problem worldwide.

Morbid obesity and obesity related metabolic diseases, such as Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus dramatically decrease life expectation

in obese population. Bariatric surgery is nowadays the only long term effective obesity treatment method. It has been shown that

surgical treatment of obesity is effective not only in achieving substantial weight loss, however it leads in more than 80 % of T2DM to

improvement or resolution of their diabetes. Such results are reported in T2 diabetic patients treated with insulin as well. Basic bariatric

procedures can be divided into restrictive, malabsorptive and combined procedures. Bariatric surgery is an integral part of modern

obesity treatment algorithm.
